Madeleine Lysek
Clinical Social Work Intern
Madeleine earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL. It was there that she developed a deep appreciation for mental health and public service. She worked alongside Psychologist and researcher Daniel Messinger in the Early Play and Development Lab working on research for early childhood development as well as autism.
Once relocating to Denver, Colorado, she earned her Master’s degree in Social Work with a concentration in mental health. Madeleine completed an internship at the END Violence program working closely with high school students on matters of healthy relationships, teen dating violence, domestic violence, and healthy boundary implementation. There she also became well versed in individual and group therapy, specifically processing gun violence, grief, and trauma. Her clinical career progressed at VitalCare, where she worked with a wide range of clients on issues such as anxiety, depression, suicide prevention, intrusive thoughts, and major life changes.
Madeleine’s main focus is to instill mutual trust by affirming the fact that clients are the experts of their own lives, therefore giving them a leading role in the therapeutic process. This is achieved by cultivating a safe space for her clients to move gently through a multitude of life’s hardships with confidence and expert guidance. She has experience working with ADHD, OCD, anxiety disorders, adjustment disorders, depression, suicidal ideation, and trauma related disorders. She uses a strengths-based approach, and integrates Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as well as Narrative Therapy in her sessions. She is extremely grateful for the opportunity to work with and assist our first responders and their families in their mental health journeys.
