Dr. Laura Corbige, Psy.D.
Post-Doctoral Resident.
Dr. Laura Corbige is a pre-licensed, clinical psychologist whose research has focused on understanding officer mental health for the past 6 years. Dr. Corbige earned her master’s and doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology from William James College and earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology with a focus on Law Enforcement and Justice Administration from Western Illinois University.
Across her academic career, Dr. Corbige’s research has investigated how training, legal standards, and cognitive processes play a role in lethal force incidents as well as examined burnout in police officers, creating a new tool to monitor officer mental health. Dr. Corbige’s clinical interests include trauma related disorders, occupational mental health, specifically as it relates to first responder professions, burnout, crisis intervention, and suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention. She is certified in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), Counseling on Access to Lethal Means (CALM) and Brief Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for Suicide Prevention (BCBT).
Dr. Corbige has worked in alternative educational settings, community mental health centers, a residential substance use treatment program, and private practice. She has been able to provide long term and short term therapy to individuals, couples, families, and groups. She has enjoyed the opportunity to provide a welcoming therapeutic space and guide clients on their unique mental health journeys.
