Rachel Menger, M.A.
Clinic Coordinator - Clearwater
Rachel Menger, M.A., has been a member of Tampa Bay Psychology Associates since 2019. Appointed to the position of Clinic Coordinator in 2023, Rachel has grown a local reputation for her resolution-focused work with clients suffering the effects of post-traumatic stress injuries and disorders. Rachel applies an intuitive, root-seeking approach to the treatment of trauma-based reactions, symptoms, and conditions. Rachel is trained in EMDR therapy, a non-invasive form of trauma-resolution therapy that helps her clients overcome the long-term barriers to functioning and adjusting that are caused by exposure to negative life events, big and small. Rachel operates confidently from the perspective that the impact of past experiences on present life can always be lessened. Blending modern psychoanalytic and attachment-based clinical standpoints, with a frank and candid approach, Rachel supports her clients as they choose to confront and balance the traumatic experiences which are, in some way, part of almost everyone’s life story.
In addition to working with trauma, Rachel is sought out by couples and individual clients seeking tactical, practical approaches to boundary and communication issues in their relationships, or as they navigate family or life changes. Specific areas of focus include support during the navigation of divorce or coparenting situations, as well as parenting and child-rearing challenges. Clients who seek a direct, innovative, and solution-focused approach to treatment will find a great fit with Rachel. Finally, Rachel is proud to provide a safe space for members of the LGBTQA+ community and those seeking support around issues of identity, sexuality, and relationships.
Rachel hails from Rockland County, New York, and began her forensic career in Manhattan, engaged with a psychiatric research team working with high-profile homicide cases. She continued her mental health career at New York City's Rikers Island Jail, before moving to Colorado to obtain her M. A. in Forensic Psychology at the University of Denver. Continuing her time out west after her degree, she worked crisis and case management within the county jails of Denver, residential community corrections services, Denver Adult Probation, and the Boulder County Sheriff's Office. Presently, in addition to counseling, Rachel thoroughly enjoys her work on the training side of Tampa Bay Psychology Associates, where she and the team develop and impart strategic, relevant mental health trainings for law enforcement, the fire service, and the EMS community.
